SleepyFrenchie did not start as a business idea. It started with a dog named Rambo and a vet appointment that changed everything.
Rambo — the reason SleepyFrenchie exists.
It started with a walk.
Marc noticed it on a Tuesday morning. Rambo, his three-year-old French Bulldog, was walking differently. A slight wobble. A hesitation before he stepped off the curb. The kind of thing you almost miss if you are not paying attention.
Marc was paying attention.
The vet visit confirmed what he had feared. Early signs of spinal stress. Disc compression. The beginning of what could become IVDD. The vet went through the list of contributing factors and then said something that stopped Marc cold.
"It could be his bed. If he is sinking into it every night, his spine is never getting the support it needs."
Marc went home and looked at Rambo's bed. Soft. Fluffy. Cheap. The kind of bed that looks cozy in a photo and does absolutely nothing for a French Bulldog's anatomy. He had bought it without thinking twice. He felt sick.
He spent the next three weeks searching for something better. An orthopedic bed designed specifically for Frenchies. Something that understood their short legs, their heavy chests, their compressed airways, their genetically fragile spines. He found nothing. General dog beds. Generic memory foam. Products built for a Labrador, not a Frenchie.
So he built it himself.
Eighteen months of development. Memory foam tested for the exact weight distribution of a French Bulldog. A bolster engineered to hold the head at the precise angle that opens a Frenchie's restricted airway. A linen shell tough enough for the daily digging and nesting Frenchies cannot help but do. A non-slip base so the bed never moves when Rambo jumps in.
Every detail exists because Marc needed it to exist. Because Rambo needed it to exist.
Rambo's wobbly walk is gone. His snoring is almost completely silent. He sleeps through the night now, head resting on the bolster, completely at peace. His last vet checkup came back with one word that made Marc tear up on the drive home.
"Healthy."
SleepyFrenchie is not for every dog. It was never meant to be. It was built for one breed, because that one breed deserves something built specifically for them.
